2026 Buddy Matches
Welcome to the 2025 Buddy Matches. The Buddy Matches have been a long time staple of Honeywell and 2026 will be an amazing year for the Buddy Matches as Trae Cole and Tyler Wilson will attempt to defend their 2025 title. As in years past, this event will pair you and a partner of your choice against other teams in an individual team match play format.
Registration
Registration is currently open. In order to register your team, please stop by the golf shop and fill out a form for you and your partner. Return the form to the golf shop along with your $120 per team entry fee. This covers all the prizes for the year. The deadline to sign up is April 26th at 5:00pm. Matches will be drawn Saturday April 25th, and Matches can begin April 26th.
Format
Each team will play 3 Qualifying Matches between the end of April and the first part of August. The total of these matches will be added together for a total score. The top 20 teams and ties will qualify for the Match Play Finals. The Match Play Finals are single elimination following the same rules as the qualifying matches.
Match Format: The lowest handicap players from each team and the highest handicap players from each team will play 18 hole matches with each hole being worth 1 point. Each match can also receive a bonus of 1 point for the winner of the front 9 and 1 point for the winner of the back 9. Any ties will result in a 1/2 point for each team. Both matches are added together for a total of 40 points in each match.
Handicap
All players are required to have a current GHIN Handicap. A GHIN Handicap can be purchased through the golf shop for $40 per year. Players are expected to post all scores where they play with another person when you play at Honeywell or another golf course. Scorecards can be dropped off in the golf shop and are posted weekly. All Buddy Match scores will be posted by the golf shop staff.
*New for 2026* Players must have a minimum of 10 scores posted within the last year. If a player has less than 10 scores posted within the last year, we will compare your lowest score/differential vs your current handicap index and you will play off of the lower of the two.
